French artist Jean Isnard lives and works in Paris. He has exhibited widely in the French capital in galleries and institutions as well as creating public installations and executing private commissions.
His practice involves placing himself in a space between the worlds of art and contemporary technology, aiming to rediscover links between man and nature which are mediated via these spheres. His interest in working with wood stems from closely following restoration work at the Cistercian abbey of Reigny in Burgundy where he was able to retrieve some medieval beams which the restorers were replacing. This relationship between the old and the new and how the two can both blend together and contrast has strongly influenced his creative process.
