Jantien de Boer graduated from the Classical Academy for Painters in Groningen in 2013. She immediately started working as a painter and exhibiting her work at home in the Netherlands and abroad, winning several scholarship and even invitations to TV programs.
Her paintings depict women who are simultaneously powerful and vulnerable. Major themes such as questions of identity and anonymity are evoked by her painting, which at the same time show a very intimate and personal to them. De Boer states to be constantly on the search to find "the right balance between realism on the one hand and the evocative abstract effect of paint on the other hand".
Artist's statement: "Painting is theater, it is romance in its purest form, it is not about documenting reality, but the painter creates a totally new, unique world, it is artificial, staged, with the sole purpose of creating an experience. that 'comes in".
