NetherlandsMinimalist Abstract (geometric) Contemporary
let's say I am an artist... I have to go to my studio daily and fiddle with my hands and the material I have at that moment... I love new experiments ,new materials, new techniques, new machines and that if I see what I make I am so surpriced because it always comes back to minimalism/abstract /cubism/soft lines hard edges and smooth finishings. It is what it is IT'sME !
Hetty Huisman is a Dutch sculptor. After graduating from the Free Art Academy, The Hague, she also worked as a ceramist in Switzerland( Hohe Gewerbe Shule). Huisman moved into the field of sculpture, studying at the State University of New York. Her exhibition “Bodywise” in the Gallery at the Marmara in New York in 2001 marked her breakthrough moment and since then she has exhibited in galleries in the US, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Switzerland. Hetty Huisman is also founder of the ExitArtAmsterdam gallery a unique platform for artists. Hetty Huisman’s sculptures are fascinating, both in their shape and materials. She masters clay, wood, steel, bronze, resins and now she is hooked on zinc. Her sculptures have an exceptional personal style, recognizable by their surfaces (extremely smooth) and combination of soft curves with sharp lines. Huisman depicts reality through simplicity and minimalism. Her synthetic resin sculptures are meticulously finished and covered in automotive paint. Here her inspiration is the human body , abstracted in to emphasis the language positions express. Her zinc sculptures depict abstract shapes with strong lines. Made in her studio in Amsterdam Holland, the zinc is cut, welded and sanded. They have a stunning smooth finish and are held in position within a stainless steel frame. These sculptures can be placed either indoors or outside. They are made of zinc roofing material so specifically made to endure all weather circumstances. Most of them can move freely on their wooden stand and the wind changes their position every day.Show more Show Less
