Gattonero is a key figure in Milan street, whose artistic activities are extended to the field of scenography, sculpture and design. He has made works all over the world up to Tokyo and Seoul and is considered one of the veterans of the old-school in Milan. He was born in a suburban and disadvantaged district of Milan that he never abandoned, where he began at an early age with graffiti-writing activity and where "friends of the ghetto" paid for him the Brera Academy. His artistic research has therefore solid foundations in the counter-culture of skate, punk and hip-pop of the early '90s when he collaborated with all the crews of the moment like a puppet designer militating in the very famous MPM crew (Milano Puppet Master) specialized in figures more than in the lettering.
Gattonero, in fact, signed numerous operas, advertisements and fashion shows as a set designer including a superb "Madame Butterfly" in the most important theatres of Tokyo and Seoul. What we find in his paintings is the result of extensive practise and experience in the field that brings together the figurative art of the great Italian school with the material abstractionist of the avant-garde, winking at design in a muralistic key.
