BiographyFiona Smith is an Australian artist, she has a BA in journalism and has attended classes at Julian Ashton art school in the 1980s in Sydney.for some time she put down her paint brushes and pursued a career in Journalism. However, during this time she felt something was missing from her life and she always tried to find a way to allow her creative side to show. She made jewellery, cut up old paintings and turned them into beaded gift cards and was almost always doodling. It was when she was cut loose from her journalism job when Fiona took up the opportunity o reimagine herself, and painting fitted perfectly into this new chapter.
Fiona has developed her practise through undertaking workshops with established prize-winning artists such as Lucy Culliton, Robert Malherbe, John Bokor, Amanda Penrose-Hart, David Fairbairn, Juliette Holmes a'Court and Tim Allen. She has also exhibited her artworks in a number of exhibitions such as Once By Happenstance - October 9-20, Gauge Gallery, Glebe and Art for Hamlin - Celebrating Women, 4 Oct–7 Oct 2018.
