Ed Smith was born in Naples, Italy, in 1959, and raised in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA. He received a BFA from the University of Massachusetts and an MFA from City University of New York.
After teaching painting and drawing at Queens college in New York for 12 years, Ed moved to Louisiana, where he started painting inspired by the landscape that combines wildlife and industry of South Louisiana. The artist was also very influenced by the work of John James Audubon, an American ornithologist, naturalist, and painter. Ed’s paintings are about the results of the clash that occurs where nature and man collide.
He exhibited his work in collections all across the USA.
