Dodo van Aarem (1965) is an all-round visual artist and designer born in The Netherlands. She studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts in the USA and the Akademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Arnhem (Artez). Until 2005 Dodo focussed on graphic design, exhibition design, hand made gifts and guest books commissioned by museums, commercial and non-profit companies and private clients. In 2005 she was responsible for the script, costume and set design and direction of the visual theatre play ‘Irene de Sirene’ for the travelling theatre festival ‘The Parade’. Since 2007 Dodo develops concepts, costumes and handmade props for theatrical mobile photo-acts performed on business and cultural events around the Netherlands. Inspired by her costume designs, Chiefs and Spirits motivated Dodo to create the letter objects we now present in the gallery. Her artworks can be characterized as clear, refined and playful, with inventive use of modern and traditional materials and production techniques. 2019 Art The Hague 2018 KunstRai 2018 Art The Hague with Galerie Chiefs & Spirits Permanently represented by Galerie Chiefs & Spirits
