Daniel Preece is a British painter who primarily works in paints, choosing to take the city as his subject. He gained strength in composition and colour while studying at the renowned Slade School of Fine Art in London, graduating with honours. Following this, Daniel then pursued a postgraduate course at the Royal Drawing School. Daniel's artworks are created through observation of the urban environment. His personal style has evolved from a pictorial landscape tradition to a portfolio of works that create a sense of place and space by exploring a dynamic colour palette.
Inspired by the city, Daniel begins his creative process with observation and uses this as a starting point to explore colour and geometry. He states, "My intention is to encourage the viewer to consider the city differently and I hope, lead them to reassess their daily surroundings with a different eye." Daniel paints his chosen subject matter through his bold colour palette and a style that hovers between abstraction and figuration.
Exhibiting widely both within the UK and international, Daniel's work has been featured in exhibitions at the Barbican Centre and the Southampton City Art Gallery.
