Clare Johnson holds a BA in fine art from Canterbury Art College.
Her current practice evolved as a result of a move from London to the north dock of the most easterly town in England where, the industrial landscape served as a source of inspiration. Clare has always had a love for practical buildings where form follows the function. She now hunts the country looking for outstanding industrial buildings and landmarks to use as a subject. Her approach in representing these 'functional' forms is nevertheless unique as it combines the industrial with inspiration from old, hand-tinted postcards to create something distinctively new and contemporary.
Clare's work has won prizes at the Eastern Open and has completed commissions for Metro Creative for their Urban Impressions exhibition; Norfolk Tourist board and The National Theatre, London.
