Primarily an illustrator of children's books Catherine has shown work in galleries throughout the UK. She has work in private collections throughout the world and in several public collections including The Centre for Children's Books in Newcastle.
Catherine has had seven children's books published to date. Her first book Augustus and his Smile, won the Booktrust Early Years Award and went on to be short-listed for both the V&A Illustration Awards and The Macmillan Prize for Children's Picture Book Illustration.
Harris Finds His Feet, published in 2008, won the Kate Greenaway Medal and was short-listed for the Chronos Prize 2009. While Ernest, published in September 2009 won The English 4-11 Awards for the Best Children's Illustrated Books. Iris & Isaac, Catherine's seventh book was launched at last year's Edinburgh International Book Festival. Solomon Crocodile, Catherine's eighth book will be published in April 2010.
Catherine lives and works in Edinburgh with her husband Colin, Shannon the horse and Ena the little grey cat who sits on her desk. Ena frequently steals her pencils and often adds a paw print or two to a painting.
Catherine doesn't generally let Shannon get that close to her work but often wishes she could keep her in her studio too! Her work is represented by Will's Art Warehouse and Sarah Wiseman Gallery in Oxford
