Astrid Stöfhas is a German painter based in Hamburg, Germany. She attended the Hamburg School of Arts in 1992 and the International College of Communication, Art and New Media in 1994. Awards followed in 2009, including winner of the symposium "Ligacao" | Elvas - Portugal et al.
Astrid is known for her 'Container Bag' project in the port of La Spezia. In her work she likes to explore different facets of personality, particularly the small cracks in the facade one presents to the public. She enjoys depicting celebrities and various character 'types' in situations which display their vulnerability such as the fashion model discarding her uncomfortable shoes or the hard mafioso facing arrest. These nuances of personality are what she wants to draw attention to, the humanity behind the mask of perfection or impenetrability.
Her works are regularly exhibited between Israel, London, New York and Hamburg.
