Andrey Kezzyn, also known as Kezzyn Waits, is a fine art photographer currently based in Berlin, Germany.
Self-taught but with more than ten years of experience in professional photography, in the last five years, Andrey started employing elements of theatricality in his photography.
These works look like film stills directed by the photographer, with real actors as the subjects. All the characters have been invented and put together on the spot by the author of the works. All the stories are real life issues. The set and make-up are hand-made. The costumes and props have been tucked away on the shelves of the studio and can be used again for another shooting.
Sarcastic, emotional, provocative and vibrant, they engage the viewer to take part in the scene, think it over and build connections with the characters.
In St. Petersbug, Kezzyn runs the International Photo Club SUSHKA, an institution that organises and hosts events in more than 100 cities all over the world. In 2015 Kezzyn became a member of the Federation of European Photographers (FEP). Kezzyn has had personal exhibitions in St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Samara and Prague. His pictures are now in private and public institution collections throughout Russia, France, Chile, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic and the United States.
