"I am drawn to the wide spaces of the Berkshire, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire Downs. These landscapes are marked by ancient tracks that link successive cultures ancient tribes, drovers, traders and nomadic wanderers. I am interested in man's signature on the landscapes, left over many centuries. The land continues to be marked by mans working of the fields creating ever-changing linear patterns colours and textures changing now with the different crops and seasons. It is the interaction between man and land that is a constant source of inspiration to me.
I work in mixed media employing many different materials. I go out in the landscape and my paintings start as watercolour sketches and drawings. Through these sketches I attempt to capture the power and rhythm of the land. The works are then finished in the studio where the dimension of mixed materials and interpretation come into being.
