Alex Knubley’s work explores the west coast of Scotland and its ever-changing weather systems, delves deep into mysterious forests and takes us to sun-baked cityscapes and dilapidated palazzi.
During this journey she charts a progression in stylistic technique. Whilst still underpinned by the structural quality resulting from her distinctive use of oil and wax with a wide range of palette knives and scrapers, she has developed a marked painterly touch to evoke something intangible.
Knubley has won awards from the Royal Scottish Academy and is represented in a growing number of significant collections. She has recently had a solo show at The Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh.
