Coco Chow is one of the talented artists represented by Art Supermarket. As an emerging Chinese oil painter whose passion is to explore the meaning of life, truth and love, her works are direct and emotional. By applying elements of traditional folk art and Thangka (a type of Tibetan painting depicting the Buddhism deity) she creates works on canvas with a unique atmosphere. Leading the audience to enter her spiritual world, Coco’s dreamy wonderlands are filled with magical clouds and legendary creatures. When considering Coco’s work you’re sure to feel her expectations of life and the enlightenment of love.
If you’re into the delicacy and tradition of watercolour painting, then getting to know Rainze Gallery is a must. The gallery was established in 2016, with the ambition to promote emerging and rising artists in Hong Kong, China and beyond, while heroing watercolour artworks to the public through their exhibitions and workshops. The team at Rainze Gallery also have a close connection with the International Watercolour Society of Hong Kong, reflected in their talented roster of artists.
Many people are attracted to Hong Kong’s iconic and enormous skyline. So it is no wonder that artists too have taken to depicting the famous cityscape. One such artist is Rainb.w, a watercolour specialist who expertly depicts atmospheric nightime cityscapes by applying layers of the transparent paint to create works with striking lights and shadows. Rainb.w considers herself as a storyteller, wanting to share the stories behind every corner of Hong Kong, evoking relatable memories to her audience.
If a variety of art appeals to you, but you’re a little stumped on choosing a favourite, come and meet the team at Galerie Koo, whose wide range of is sure to inspire you. The gallery, located in Central, promotes contemporary and emerging artists from Hong Kong, Asia and Europe. The team are passionate about providing a platform for their artists to share their distinctive ideas, covering abstract, conceptual and fantastical works and more. To spend some time perusing their varied roster is to truely enrich your perspective on the art world.
Kathy Fung is a Hong Kong artist and a free-spirited globetrotter. She regards art as the perfect form in which to depict the majestic world that surrounds her. Kathy treats her works as an expression of her wonder and love for the places she had visited. By manipulating traditional Chinese art elements, she manifests her creative concepts and ideas without being limited to particular art forms, allowing the audience an environmental and visual awakening.
Hong Kong is an international city that attracts audiences and artists from all around the world, all keen to delve into the cities art scene. South Korean Gallery Jeeum, first operated in the heart of Seoul, then expanded internationally in 2020, opening their second gallery in Hong Kong – the first art gallery in Discovery Bay! The gallery hosts regular contemporary art exhibitions, showcasing talented artists from South Korea, alongside other Asian countries, to their keen international audiences.
Yihong Hsu was born in Seoul, Korea and now lives permanently in Hong Kong. With her multi-national and cultural background, she applies different cultural elements to her works. Abstract flowers are the most portrayed subject in her works, her bold shapes representing the spirit of every day circumstances, that we all encounter. By composing different shapes and patterns, Yihong Hsu creates bold abstract images, each with a narrative that calls out to her audiences to listen to her charming stories.
The last gallery we are introducing you to is Eye Contemporary Art Gallery. Their gallery aim, much like the Affordable Art Fair motto, is to bring art into your daily life by providing accessible and affordable artworks to all. Behind this mission is the belief that everyone has the right to appreciate art and be inspired by it by turning the world into a gigantic art space. “Art-lovers of the world unite!”
If you’re drawn to artworks that explore a sense of nostalgia, then Suzanne Chim is the perfect choice for you, as her beautiful works trigger the audience’s memories of their childhood. The artist uses delicate lines to express a simple image, such as an innocent child who is curious about the world surrounding her. With a few simple but elegant lines, Suzanne captures the essence of the subject, the finished pieces becoming the perfect embodiment of “less is more”.
