Louise is interested in the solitude and isolation of extreme scenery; trying to capture the mysterious, mercurial nature of light on the land and sea. Her passion focuses on big skies and the emotive impact of light on the land. In particular, Louise is fascinated by early morning and last light, striving to capture the “exquisite, elusive, vaporous and ephemeral luminosity” of it. The absence of any human presence is a deliberate decision, lending a timeless quality to the work, transporting the viewer back to past millennia when our impact on the planet was more benign. Louise is inspired by the remote landscape of Ireland, the Peak District both places where she grew-up, and the river she lives by.
Louise Fairchild is a London based fine art painter. She graduated from Reading University with a BA in Fine Art after completing a Foundation year at Sheffield Art College. Louise's main interest is in the solitude and isolation of remote extreme scenery where she attempts to capture the drama and light of the sea, land, and sky. Her paintings are predominately large scale. She creates texture with the oil before applying many layers of translucent oil glazes.
