About Helen Gorrill

About the artwork

This is a beautiful 21st-century reinstatement of Johannes Vermeer's 17th century 'Girl with a Pearl Earring'. She wears real human hair extensions which hang over the stunning antique gilt frame. The frame was sourced from a stately home sale so it has real provenance, and is a work of art in itself - it is precious and will increase in value as an asset in itself. You can see my other portraits hanging in the prestigious Bankside Hotel London. This work was created as a 'new mistress/ old master' piece as a result of completing my PhD in contemporary British painting, alongside writing my new book 'Women Can't Paint' which will be published by Bloomsbury this year.
