Young Talent programme 2013, in collaboration with ION Art
Affordable Art Fair’s Young Talent Programme 2013, in collaboration with ION Art, provides a significant platform for talented young artists under the age of 35 to be spotted by galleries and art institutions, as well as to be introduced to the art-loving public. Our objective is to identify young talents early, providing guidance and commentary on their artistic development. The Programme creates an opportunity for emerging artists to build a strong CV and experience in the art industry and to be in a programme which provides a focal point for contemporary art dealers and their collectors to access fresh artists’ works from the region.
Apart from the exhibition of artworks at Affordable Art Fair 2013, the culmination for two or three of the awarded young artists will be a three-week curated solo exhibition supported by ION Art in 2014. The solo shows will run concurrently, forming a visual discourse for both artists and audience.
Selected artists win an opportunity to exhibit their works at Affordable Art Fair in November 2013. Of these, two or three artists will win the coveted chance of a solo exhibition provided by ION Art. The winning artists will work with our programme curator, allowing them a year to develop their practice.
The programme is open to artists 18 to 35 years old in 2013, who are born/resident in South East Asia and who do not have gallery representation.
The 2013 Advisory Committee of trusted and recognized supporters of the visual arts in Singapore comprises Benjamin Hampe, Boo Sze Yang, Camilla Hewitson, Wendy Cheong and programme curator Seah Tzi Yan.
