Meet our team
Nicky Wheeler
Fair Director and MD - UK
After spending her twenties travelling and discovering the secrets of the world, Nicky returned to the UK to find a ‘proper’ job. Several years followed working in marketing and design, both on the client and agency sides.
In 1999 she took a freelance role with the Affordable Art Fair, working with Will Ramsay on the very first fair. Thirteen years later, and she’s still here! A passionate promoter of the arts, Nicky has a particular penchant for original prints.

After a brief stint working in advertising in Chicago, Alison was blown over the oceans to our fair lands, where she undertook her second degree and completed a PhD in English Literature at London’s King College.
Having spent her university life reading books, Alison has spent the last 16 years keeping books for the arts world. She found herself working for theatre and television, and rolled with the punches at the World Wrestling Federation, before we offered Alison her dream job here with us in 2008. We’re good in a fight.

With a combined degree in Business Management and Drama, Stacey worked for Barclays before taking a place on our stage in 2010.
Among her many and varied talents, Stacey works with the local Air Cadets Squadron, scuba dives, has perfected the art of doing ‘the worm’, and has the X-factor. Well, she did audition!

Junior Graphic Designer
Graduating from Kingston University with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design last summer, Ana is a young creative with a passion for fine art. Hailing originally from Transylvania in Romania, Ana assures us she can eat garlic (although we have yet to see any actual proof…).
Before joining us as our Junior Graphic Designer, Ana worked in a similar role for the Whitechapel Gallery and has undertaken numerous internships within the design world. In addition, Ana is also busy sinking her teeth into some freelance graphic design work in East London.

Marketing Manager
Graduating from the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Jess took a one-week job at the Affordable Art Fair in 2000 and has been trying to leave ever since. However, new roles and Nic’s cakes are proving too irresistible.
Since 2007 Jess has been curating the Recent Graduates’ Exhibition at the Battersea Fairs in October, and is currently enjoying working on our marketing campaigns; satisfying both her creative urges and her need to tinker with colour-coded spreadsheets. Jess has kept her studio practice, and occasionally runs an ultramarathon, or ironman triathlon.

Production Manager
Joining us last August as a Team Assistant, Luci quickly became the team’s Production Manager that November. Having been a Project Officer for a Community Interest Company, Luci also moonlighted as a freelancer for the likes of Matt’s Gallery, the National Federation of Artists Studio Providers and the Whitechapel Gallery.
With both a BA from St Martins and an MA from Birkbeck under her cap, Luci’s particular passion lies in the s’s of the cultural sector: the sustainability of subsidised studio provision and supporting artists through art school and into independent practice.

Our resident baker and maker of deliciously sweet treats, Nic has been ruining our diets since she joined in 2008. As well as being a whizz with a spatula, Nic achieved both a BA (Hons) in Visual Studies and an MA in Art, Design and Education from Norwich University College of the Arts.
Joining us as a modest intern just 4 years ago, Nic has progressed into the management side of things. And before us, she worked as a freelancer for the BBC, National Trust and for arts projects in Spain and Nairobi. A passionate promoter of arts education, she is a lady committed to making art accessible to all.

Hampstead Fair Director
Another of our very well travelled team members, this lass from Lancashire was brought up in the Middle East, has travelled extensively throughout Africa and India, as well as spending time in San Francisco and New Orleans. Romy studied Architecture in London and graduated from Central St. Martins.
Joining the Affordable Art Fair in 2007, she left again in 2009, venturing into the wine industry, but missing us all too much, Romy returned in 2010 to launch our Hampstead fair. A practising artist, Romy has a studio in Hackney Wick and has exhibited in London and New York. She particularly likes quirky, unsettling and visceral paintings and sculptures.
